coming from a country with a communist background this is rather powerful stuff. I was a tad too young to grasp the full extent of the fear and the insidious suspicion that slowly but surely invades every single pore of every single individual part of such a utopian and utterly flawed system…good shot!

In the opening to his documentary ‘The Power of Nightmares’, Adam Curtis claims that politicians that offer utopian ideologies have lost their support, as their projects for a perfect world system failed. In many particular cases this is untrue, but as a generalisation it may be right.
To Curtis, modern (neo-Con and New Labour) politicians show us not dreams, but nightmares; and they offer us protection in exchange for greater power over our lives. Sooner or later I hope we will recognise these dreams and nightmares for what they are.

It’s the perfect way of keeping the masses in check isn’t it. Do try and read Vladimir Volkoff’s “Disinformation Treaty” (“Desinformation, flagrant delit”). He is a French writer of Russian origin and he captures the modern socio-political dynamics brilliantly!
